Laredo customs brokerage for imports into Mexico
Mexican customs clearance at Nuevo Laredo, across from Laredo, Texas, filed by our partner licensed customs broker and coordinated with your truck. We pre-validate the customs entry before the unit reaches the bridge.
Short answer
How we work at Nuevo Laredo
Kold Gold does not hold its own customs broker license (patente aduanal). The clearance is filed by our partner licensed Mexican customs broker under their license at the Nuevo Laredo customs office; on the Mexican side the authority is Mexico's National Customs Agency (ANAM). What we add is the coordination around it: one team that reviews the documents, times the pre-validation and books the truck, so the crossing isn't decided in the line but in the file.
1 · Before the truck moves
You send the commercial invoice, packing list and product details. We review them against the tariff classification and the non-tariff regulations that apply to it, and confirm your Importers Registry status.
2 · Pre-validation
Our partner licensed customs broker prepares the Mexican customs entry (pedimento). Once the file is consistent, the entry is pre-validated and paid so it is ready before the truck reaches the customs module.
3 · The crossing
The truck crosses through the commercial bridge assigned to it. If the trailer changes tractor at the border (transfer), that handoff is scheduled in advance so the trailer doesn't wait at the line.
4 · Onward delivery
We line up the truck from the bonded yard to the final destination — Monterrey, Saltillo, the Bajío or central Mexico — with the unit assigned by release time, and refrigerated equipment when the product needs it. GPS tracking runs 24/7.
Documents for a clean crossing
Four things decide whether a crossing stops: a supported tariff classification, the USMCA certification of origin when you claim preference, a Carta Porte that matches the customs entry, and the non-tariff regulations checked against the tariff classification — not against the product's trade name. The working list:
- Commercial invoice and packing list, with descriptions that match exactly what is in the trailer
- Transport document for the move into Mexico
- USMCA certification of origin, when you claim preferential duty
- Importers Registry (Padrón de Importadores) and any sector registry the tariff classification requires — filed by the importer
- Mexican standards (NOM) compliance, permits or sanitary requirements that apply to the tariff classification
- CFDI with Carta Porte complement for the domestic leg, consistent with the customs entry in goods, weights and route
The exact set depends on your goods and customs regime; we confirm it for your tariff classification before the shipment is scheduled.
Approximate timing
With documents ready and the customs entry pre-validated, an off-peak crossing usually resolves in hours. At peak times — month-end, season close, a contingency on the bridge — the same move can take more than a full shift. If the risk-assessment system sends the shipment to inspection, add the time of that review. All of these are approximate: confirm the day's estimated time before you commit a delivery appointment.
Nuevo Laredo or another crossing?
Nuevo Laredo wins on depth of services: a bridge dedicated to commercial cargo, a rail crossing, and the border's largest concentration of customs brokers, bonded facilities and carriers. Other crossings win in specific cases — oversized cargo, relief at peak season or proximity to the final destination.
| Crossing | Typical use |
|---|---|
| Nuevo Laredo – Laredo (commercial bridge) | Manufacturing, automotive, consumer goods, daily crossings |
| Nuevo Laredo – Laredo (rail) | Intermodal containers and finished vehicles |
| Colombia, Nuevo León | Project cargo and relief at peak times |
| Reynosa | Perishables, electronics, regional maquila |
| Ciudad Juárez | Northern IMMEX maquila, components |
IMMEX and maquila flows
Much of the northeast operates under the IMMEX program: temporary imports with time limits, virtual transfers between program companies and documented returns. The expensive mistake is rarely at the bridge; it is losing track of inventory months later. We coordinate each entry with the program's controls so every temporary import has its matching return identified.
