Kold Gold · International logistics from Mexico
Freight forwarding, customs brokerage and cold chain in Mexico
One Mexican counterpart for the whole move: ocean, air and ground freight, customs clearance through a partner licensed customs broker, and temperature-controlled distribution — from your supplier's dock to your consignee in Mexico.
Why a Mexican partner
A counterpart on the ground, not an agent at the other end of the lane
Most cargo entering Mexico is managed from somewhere else. The forwarder sits in Shenzhen or Chicago, the customs work is subcontracted to a broker nobody on the account has ever spoken to, and the first time anyone reads the paperwork closely is when the container is already on the ground at Manzanillo accruing demurrage. That arrangement costs nothing on the freight quote. It costs in storage, in re-classification, and in the weeks a shipment waits on a document that could have been fixed at origin.
Kold Gold is built the other way around. We are a Mexican firm, staffed in Mexico, and we work with a partner licensed customs broker who holds a patente aduanal — the licence Mexican law requires for any commercial import. The team quoting your freight also coordinates your pedimento (the Mexican customs declaration) with that broker from the same operations desk, so nothing is lost at the border.
For buyers in Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Shanghai and Taipei, that also means coverage while you are working: documentation and pre-alert review overlap with Asian business hours, so a discrepancy caught at origin is resolved before the vessel sails rather than after it berths. For buyers in the United States, it means the Mexican half of a nearshoring programme is run by people who answer for it, in the same time zone as your plant.
Services
Six service lines, one file per shipment
Freight and clearance are quoted and executed as a single operation. A perfect ocean move is worth nothing if the cargo sits in a bonded warehouse waiting on an entry that should have been filed a week earlier.

Detail
One chain, four modes: air, ocean, ground and customs under a single operation.
The Asia–Mexico corridor: choosing the port is a commercial decision
Mexico's Pacific coast takes most of the containerised volume arriving from Asia. Manzanillo is the highest-volume container port in the country and the default entry point for cargo bound for the Bajío and central Mexico. Lázaro Cárdenas offers deeper draft, more room in peak season and direct rail into the same industrial corridor. On the Gulf side, Veracruz serves trade from Europe and the US East Coast, and Altamira handles chemicals, resins and project cargo alongside containers.
The right port is not automatically the one closest to your consignee. It is the one where your carrier runs a direct service instead of a transhipment that adds ten days, where the terminal is not congested the week your vessel arrives, and where inland transport to the final address is cheapest. We quote the landed comparison, not the ocean leg in isolation.

Cross-border with the United States, USMCA and IMMEX
Nuevo Laredo is the busiest commercial crossing on the border and the natural gateway for traffic moving through Texas into central Mexico. Ciudad Juárez serves the El Paso corridor and the manufacturing base in Chihuahua; Tijuana serves Otay Mesa and the California–Baja cluster. Each crossing has its own congestion pattern, its own inspection rhythm and its own carrier availability, and the cheapest lane on paper is often the slowest in practice.
Under USMCA, qualifying goods move free of duty — but qualification has to be documented. The certification of origin is not a government form to be filled in after the fact; it is a set of required data elements certified by the exporter, producer or importer, backed by records that have to survive an audit years later. We review origin claims before the shipment moves, because a claim corrected afterwards is a claim on which duty has already been paid.
If you manufacture under an IMMEX programme, temporary import terms and their discharge deadlines are handled inside the same file as the freight. A temporary import that is not discharged on time stops being a duty deferral and becomes a liability.

Who can actually import into Mexico
This is where most first-time importers lose a month. Every commercial import into Mexico is filed by a licensed customs broker acting under an encargo conferido — the formal authorisation the importer grants the broker to act on its behalf. The importer of record must be a Mexican taxpayer registered in the padrón de importadores, the importers' registry, and certain sectors — pharmaceuticals, chemicals, steel, textiles, footwear — require a further sectoral registration on top of it.
A foreign exporter cannot import into Mexico in its own name without that structure. If you are being quoted DDP into Mexico by a supplier who has not explained who the importer of record will be, the question has not been answered. We raise it at quote stage, not at the port.
Tariff classification, non-tariff regulations, NOM labelling compliance and prior inspection (previo) are all built into the file before arrival, so the entry is ready when the cargo is. See customs brokerage for the full process.
Cold chain for health-regulated product
Pharmaceuticals, biologics, vaccines, diagnostic reagents and perishables move under controlled ambient, 2–8 °C or frozen regimes with continuous temperature monitoring and a documented procedure for excursions. Health-regulated product also carries a regulatory layer that freight alone does not solve: COFEPRIS, Mexico's health authority, governs import authorisation, sanitary registration and the conditions under which the product may be stored and distributed.
We work to Good Distribution Practice with qualified passive shippers, dry ice, reefer containers and thermal validation, and we keep the temperature record attached to the same shipment file as the customs entry — because when a batch is questioned, the two documents are asked for together. See cold chain logistics.
Agree the Incoterm before you agree the price
Incoterms 2020 decide where cost and risk change hands. Under EXW and FCA the buyer carries the move from origin and controls the routing. Under CIF the seller books the ocean leg and the buyer inherits whatever schedule comes with it. Under DDP the seller carries duty and clearance into Mexico — which in practice requires a Mexican importer of record, because the pedimento has to be filed in somebody's name. DDP from Asia can be structured; it should be priced with that structure visible rather than assumed.
